Marketing Doesn’t Have to Be a Mystery
Marketing is a critical discipline that every business owner has to figure out if they’re going to reach their full potential.
Yes, you need to have a high-quality product or service. Yes, you need to build, manage, and lead your team. You have to have a sales process that works. You need financial systems. There’s a lot that goes into building a successful business.
But even if you check all of those boxes, if you don’t figure out a winning marketing strategy and system for your business, you’re never going to reach your potential.
Sorry, but “I deliver great products/services and let my work speak for itself” isn’t a marketing plan!
And “I get 100% of my business from referrals” isn’t a marketing plan either!
Don’t sell yourself short.
Six years ago, I started a business from scratch. My business partner and I built it from a spare bedroom in a tiny apartment in Miami, FL. In all honesty, we had no idea what we were doing. We made just about every mistake you could make.
But fortunately, we found some great mentors. Some we met face-to-face, others we studied from a distance through their books, videos, and events.
In our first year of operation, 2012, we generated less than $100,000 in revenue. That’s before expenses, and remember, there were two of us, so we had to split everything!
In 2016, we broke the million-dollar mark. In 2017, we grew another 30% on top of that, generating $1.3 million in sales.
This didn’t happen by random luck. It happened because we created and implemented a system to predictably create qualified leads for our business.
We’re not geniuses. We didn’t have any particular competitive advantage. We had next-to-no resources. Our service isn’t unique or revolutionary.
Yet, we’ve been able to scale our business rapidly, serve clients across the country, and build an awesome team that we love working with.
All because of our marketing system.
Which could and does work for businesses of every shape and size.
I started the Marketing Simplified Podcast for one simple reason – because I believe that marketing shouldn’t be a mystery.
If you’ve got a great product and/or service, you’ve got everything you need to build a million-dollar business (assuming that’s your goal – it doesn’t have to be.)
On this podcast, and on this blog, I’m going to do my best to share the strategies and tips that I’ve picked up along the way. The strategies that worked for us. And I’m going to break down the marketing system that we built and explain how to make it work for your business, too.
Stay tuned!
